Research Methodology
We publish guides for people living and working abroad, and we pay for that work with advertising and affiliate commissions. That business model only works if you can trust what you read here — so this page explains exactly how our guides are made, and what we will not do.
How we research a guide
- We start from real questions. Topics come from what people actually search for, not from what pays best.
- Every fact is checked against a primary source.Regulators (such as SAMA and national central banks), official provider pages, and government portals — not other blogs. Where sources conflict, we say so.
- Sources are linked inline. If we state a fee, a limit or a rule, the link to verify it is right there in the sentence.
- Anything we cannot verify is left out — or explicitly marked as unconfirmed. We would rather publish less than publish a guess.
- Guides are dated and updated. Every article shows when it was last verified. Fees change; a guide that is not maintained is removed.
Our visuals
Diagrams on this site are drawn by us and show things that stay true regardless of app version — how a transfer travels, how an exchange-rate margin works. We do not mock up screens to look like a provider's app: interfaces change, and a picture that no longer matches reality is misinformation. We also do not republish providers' copyrighted screenshots.
How we make money, and what it does not buy
We earn from advertising and, where relevant, affiliate commissions when a reader signs up for a service. Advertising is clearly labelled and separated from editorial content.
Nobody can pay for a ranking, a recommendation or a good review. Comparison tables are ordered by published fees and verifiable data. If a cheaper option pays us nothing, it still goes first — and if a service is a bad deal, we say that too.
What we refuse to publish
- Machine-translated filler, or guides written without checking sources.
- Content that encourages illegal routes (such as unlicensed money transfer), even when readers ask for it. We point to legal, licensed options only.
- Personalised financial advice. We explain options and rules; the decision is yours.
Corrections
Found a number that has changed or a rule we got wrong? Tell us — reports that include a source link are fixed first, and the guide's "last verified" date is updated when we do.
